Biohackr Health is focused on trying to bring science and medicine to the anti-aging space. When talking about lifespan and healthspan, you shouldn’t just do every supplement, IV, and treatment. More is not always better- sometimes it may actively hurt you. It is exhausting. You need to focus on what YOUR issues are.
As medicine progresses, we are becoming more focused on prevention and individualization. Every person does not have the same issues- some people are more at risk for heart issues, cancer, or diabetes, some for dementia. This is determined by genetics and lifestyle. So know your numbers.
We created the Biohackr Benchmark for those who don’t know where their issues are– it is testing in a broad arena of areas to get your baseline. If you do a micronutrient test and all your numbers are in range, you don’t need to be taking lots of magnesium or Vitamin B supplements. If you do an insulin resistance panel and your HbA1c is normal, high blood sugar, and diabetes issues are not your issues. If you do a genetic cancer risk screen and you find your risk for colon cancer is higher, you should make sure you don’t put off your colonoscopy and start at age 45- don’t wait.
You cannot do everything on every front for all risks. It’s too much, and you would be wasting time, energy, and money on things which you are not at risk for. Find out what YOUR issues are.
What we are discovering as we delve deeper into testing people is just how individual everyone is. Two sisters can have a genetic risk of high cholesterol, where one has high levels of cholesterol even when taking statin medications and shows calcification on the cardiac CT scan, where the other does not. When looking at blood sugar spikes after eating, one person may spike super high after eating a bowl of ice cream, while their friend doesn’t have a spike at all.
TESTS:
- MICRONUTRIENTS
- CANCER RISK: Natera genetic cancer risk screen, Galleri early cancer detection test
- HEART DISEASE: Comprehensive in depth cholesterol panel including ApoB, Insulin resistance panel, Cardiac Calcium Scan.
- DIABETES RISK: Insulin resistance panel including HbA1c, Continuous Glucose Monitor
- HORMONES
- AGING: Telomere length test, NAD level test
- BODY: InBody scan (weight, fat/muscle percentages)
Once you find what your issues are, then you treat them. Treatment may be changing eating habits, increasing exercise, taking supplements or medications. You do that for 3-6 months, and then you retest. How did your numbers change? Do we need to change your regimen?
Bring science and data to biohacking. This should not be throwing spaghetti at the wall. This should be a thoughtful, data driven process to improve your healthspan.
