Biohacking for many young men involves trying to build up muscle mass, strength, endurance, and recovery. So what’s a good way to optimize the body? What should you think about beyond typical advice like exercise, weight training, and protein? Is there a way to be safer? What are the side effects?
- LABWORK/TESTING. This is so important. Where are you starting? What is your protein level? What is your testosterone level? Thyroid? Micronutrients? NAD level? Be careful of just adding protein powders. The herbal industry is unregulated, and we have seen people in liver failure from protein supplements (and they had no idea!). We, at Biohackr Health, are trying to bring science to biohacking. This involves testing via our Biohackr Benchmark program to know where you stand now, reevaluating after treatments. What is working?
- TESTOSTERONE. This is a well known treatment to help build muscle (and with bonuses for libido and other things). However, there can be side effects. Too much testosterone can increase your hematocrit blood level, lower sperm counts, and increase androgenic hair loss.
- NAD. This is what feeds mitochondria, the “powerhouse” of the cell. We can test your current level and give IV NAD therapy and oral NMN (the precursor to NAD) to improve your body on a cellular level.
- SERMORELIN. This is a GHRH agonist, which is a growth hormone release hormone agonist. This causes your pituitary to release more growth hormone, which has been shown to aid in muscle mass, strength, and recovery. But the long term effects are not known for those who are not growth-hormone deficient. It is also blocked by some athletic boards.
- IVs. We have IV formulations filled with amino acids and vitamins known to be the building blocks of protein.
- InBODY SCAN. This helps you assess your baseline muscle and fat, so you can analyze what treatments are working.
How Can Biohackr Health Help?
We offer all of the services above. We are not just an IV clinic trying to sell you products. We want to bridge medicine and biohacking to bring you a safer, more tailored, and more scientific approach. Every person is different in where they start, their goals, and their risk tolerance (as some of these new treatments are truly experimental, with some published studies in mice but not many in humans).
Testing is key. You need to know where you are starting from and evaluate whether treatments are effective.
You need to look at the treatment options available. They vary in how often, costs, and how researched they are. We will try to help guide you on the pros and cons of treatments. This is a new frontier of medicine.
Balance is often essential. Many times we recommend short courses of treatments or alternating treatments to reduce the risks and side effects.
“Optimize you” isn’t just a slogan. It’s a necessity as all people are different.
