We do a lot of medical weight loss at Biohackr Health.
Where do you start? First is to come in for an evaluation. What is your weight? What is your goal? What are your other medical issues? The first place to always start is with ASSESSMENT and EDUCATION.
How Do I Stay Informed of My Health?
- Vital signs. Vital signs are your blood pressure, heart rate, and weight. These are important to follow.
- InBody scan. What is your weight? Visceral fat? Muscle to fat ratio? You need to know your baseline. This will help you target your goal, and it will help you see along the way how much you are losing and WHAT you are losing. It is important to lose fat, not muscle. This test helps you assess that.
- Labwork. This is good to make sure your body is healthy and to get your baseline before weight loss.
- Education. We have treated hundreds of patients with medical weight loss.
- We know the answer to frequently asked questions (How much weight will I lose? How much protein should I eat daily? How many calories?)
- We have semaglutide and tirzepatide. We will start you at the lowest dose and work up.
- If you have side effects, we can change medications.
- We have medication for nausea.
- We have other treatments which will make your weight loss more effective.
- Probiotics, which aid with insulin resistance and help with digestion
- NAD, which improves muscle and weight loss
- Hormone support, which helps with weight loss
- IV infusions, which can help with nutrient boosts.
You should plan to come in weekly for assessment and injection. Our staff will help assess you to see how the medication is working and make adjustments to your plan. What is your exercise? Nutrition? Any side effects? Do you need to change your dose? We do not encourage at-home doses, as we like to make sure your medication is working as it should and we do our sterile technique with correct dosing. There was a recent study looking at overdosing issues with semaglutide, and they were from people doing at-home injections with compounded medications acquired online, many of which were contaminated or have incorrect concentrations.
These medications take time to work. It is common to have side effects when starting. Many of those will wear off as your body adjusts to the medication. Expect to take 1-2 months to adjust. Expect a “good” rate of weight loss to be 3-5 pounds/month. For some it may be faster, for others it may be slower.
If you decide to take a “break,” we can help you navigate that. We STRONGLY do not recommend stopping it cold turkey from a higher dose. We also do not recommend stopping it and then restarting it at a higher dose. Your body needs to adjust, so we “titrate” the dose up and down in a manner that won’t shock your body.
This is not a quick fix. It requires your participation to get optimal and safe results. It requires you to look at your diet and exercise and make adjustments to support your weight loss and maintenance journey.
We are here to help.
