Glutathione
GLUTATHIONE is a wonder drug. It is a powerful antioxidant occurring naturally in the body, which wanes with aging. It is a cornerstone of the anti-aging and longevity space, and you will see it as an add-on treatment to most of our IV treatments.
GLUTATHIONE
Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant. If you do a search through scientific articles, you will see tons of published studies dating back over a decade showing the benefits of glutathione. As with many treatments in the growing regenerative space, studies in humans with exact treatments have not been done extensively yet, but what is published is promising. What do we know?
- It is an antioxidant
- It inhibits inflammation
- It improves insulin sensitivity, which lowers the risk of diabetes
- It is protective to the brain, and is thought to be a potential treatment for Parkinsons and Alzheimers
- It regulates the balance between regeneration and apoptotic cell shedding in the intestine.
- It inhibits inflammation-induced carcinogenesis in the gut
- It is a tumor suppressor
- Mitochondrial glutathione forms the mitochondrial sheath of spermatozoa which guarantees male fertility.
Things to think about
As with many antiaging regenerative treatments, the science is new. These are promising interventions, but we do not have lots of studies in humans with big numbers and exact methods of amounts/ method of giving/ frequency. One concern for many regenerative treatments is that they could “feed” cancers if they are present.
It is an odd tension- the powerful antioxidants which help prevent cancers could help a cancer grow.
So what can you do to assess your risk? If you are going to really dedicate yourself to regenerative medicine, it is good to test yourself to make sure you are cancer free. It is for this reason we use the Galleri blood test, which screens your blood for cancer by detecting the small pieces of cancer shed into the bloodstream.
